"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Matthew 6:19-21

Frequently Asked Questions:

What does Grace believe about money?
Giving is an act of worship. God owns everything and gave us what we have. So, God doesn't need our money! The Bible explains that "where our money is, that's where our hearts are." Our hearts are with God's work. So God, in effect, is asking us where our hearts are. To help us evaluate this, He allows us to participate in His work through giving. Interestingly, it must be joyfully given—remember that heart principle—or God doesn't want it. So, we each plan how much and when we can joyfully give, asking for God's guidance and for our hearts to be increasingly His.
How do I decide how much to give?
Give a cheeful, preplanned percentage. Paul said “Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 3 Steps: 1. Plan (Purpose in your heart) to give ahead of time. This way, you will not give out of emotion. 2. Never give to God because you feel guilty (under compulsion). If you feel pressured to give, God doesn't want your money. This is worship, not obligation. 3. Finally, whatever you can give cheerfully. Give a cheeful, preplanned percentage.
What if I can’t afford to give right now?
One of the difficulties with living above our means is that it inhibits our desire to worship God with our finances. The Lord requires us to be faithful regardless of how much He has entrusted to us. Luke 16:10 says “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” It is when we are having financial struggles that we can’t afford not to make God first in our spending. God wants us to trust Him in everything, including finances.
What are my giving dollars used for?
Your gifts are used to fund God’s work through the ministries of Grace. When you give more than our operational needs, we are able to support ministries around the world. We are reaching people for Jesus that we would never have the chance of meeting...this side of heaven. Thank you for your generosity!
Does Grace Community Church have a budget?
Yes. Each year our Elder Board determines the ministry needs for the following year. Our budget is based on the goals and objectives of each ministry area within the church. However, we never spend money we don't have. So, as giving increases, opportunities for ministries increase. As giving decreases, we exercise fiscal responsibility and spend only what is given. Grace has always been a sacrificial, generous church. God has always provided what we need, and more!
